Litttle Topashaw Creek - Monitoring - Vegetative control of gullies
headline bar

H-flume measuring runoff into vegetated inlet along Little Topashaw Creek

  • Topographic surveys were performed at selected riparian gullies in order to establish initial conditions. Follow up surveys were done as soon as grass planting had been completed, after significant erosion events produced noticeable changes, and at the end of the project.

  • Two tipping bucket rain gages were installed along the corridor.

  • Flumes with stage recorders were installed immediately upstream from an untreated gully and three vegetated inlets in order to measure depth, velocity, and discharge of runoff events.
