Data Automation Software for Calculation of Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Agricultural Crops
DASIG Software Download
The DASIG model is a user-friendly computer application for the calculation and modeling of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from agricultural crops. It analyzes, calculates, and verifies the accuracy of nitrous oxide (N2O), methane (CH4), and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions using air samples collected from static flux chambers installed in the field.
The current release includes two submodels: the Dasig-Flux processes data files containing time series of GHG concentrations determined through trace gas analyzers and calculates gas fluxes using linear and non-linear equations. The Dasig-GWP Global Warming Potential model estimates the climate impact of CH4, N2O and CO2 from cropland using data generated by the Dasig-Flux module. It calculates daily, cumulative, and total GHG emissions for given crop growth periods or annual cycles. Emissions are reported in terms of CO2 equivalents (CO2 eq)
DASIG Application for Windows
Technical Notes
DASIG 1.0 is distributed as a single installation executable named DasigSetup-1.0.x.x. The installer will perform all necessary operations. DASIG requires the statistical computing software ‘R’ (https://www.r-project.org/). If R is not found on your computer, DASIG will ask for permission to install the software, as well as the R add-on package HMR (https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/HMR/index.html) . The DASIG installer includes the latest installation files for R and HMR available at the time the DASIG installer was created (R 4.2.2 or newer, HMR 1.0.4 or newer).
If R is not already installed on computer, or it cannot be installed, DASIG will not be installed, and no changes will be made.
Once DASIG is installed, you can start it by locating the program in the Windows Start menu or using the desktop shortcut if one was created. Like any other Windows application, it can be pinned to the Taskbar or to the Start menu. To uninstall the program, use the links in the Start menu or in “Add or Remove Programs” interface, or in Settings, Apps, App & Features in the newest releases of Windows.
Computer Requirements
DASIG can be installed on Windows 10 or 11 computers with a 64-bit processor and at least 4GB of RAM and a few GB of free disk space for installation and data processing.
DASIG does not require administrator privileges for its installation. It can be installed only for the current user.
Installation and Troubleshooting
The DASIG installer will try to determine if R is already installed. If that is the case, it will install the HMR package and the DASIG software. If R is not available, the installer program provided by the R developers will be used. If R cannot be installed by the current user due to security policies, please inquire with your system administration for installation of R, HMR, and DASIG.
DASIG is programmed in Python, and therefore requires a Python environment to run. However, DASIG provides its own Python environment and all packages and libraries it needs, so it does require Python to be previously installed. DASIG will not use, modify, or interfere with any Python environment that may be present on end user’s computers.
If installation fails or if the application stops working for any reason, reinstalling DASIG may fix problems.
