Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Fall armyworm can be a serious pest to vegetable crops in the northeastern U.S. This species migrates from southern Florida and southern Texas each season, arriving in New Jersey during summer and early fall. Although it was thought that infestations in NJ were from Florida, our research has suggested that moths from both Texas and Florida can arrive in NJ, and that the proportions from these areas vary by NJ county and by time of year. This is important to NJ vegetable growers because of the concern of Bt resistant populations from Florida.
