Technical Abstract: Peer review is a critical component of the scientific method and therefore should be an obligation for everyone who desires to publish their research results in refereed journals. This editorial is written to address a specific problem being encountered by editors of Soil & Tillage Research, but the problem is really very common for all scientific journals and journal editors. Suggestions for making the review process efficient are shared and a challenge is issued to members of the International Soil & Tillage Research Organization (ISTRO) to take a more active role in the peer review process.
