Interpretive Summary: It also contains photographs, drawings and illustrations to assist bee-extension personnel and bee scientists in the control of diseases caused by these pathogens. Both of these diseases are commonly found in bee colonies and can result in severe reduction of colony population, and thus overall colony productivity.

Technical Abstract: In this paper we describe the disease symptoms and protocols commonly used in research of honey bee fungal diseases chalkbrood and stonebrood, caused by Ascosphaera apis and Aspergillus spp. respectively.
