Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Single harvest herbage, P, and N yields were measured on 'Alamo' switchgrass at Stephenville (5 yr), and Beeville (4 yr), Texas. Nitrogen (0, 56, 112, 168, and 224 kg N/ha) and P (0, 22, 45, 67, and 90 kg P/ha) were applied on three row spacings: 178, 356, and 534 mm. Narrower row spacing increased yield only during the establishment year at Beeville. Fertilizer P had no effect at either location during any year. Nitrogen increased yield every year at both locations. Nitrogen increased herbage N concentrations at Beeville in yr 4 and every year at Stephenville; herbage N yield increased with N fertilization at both locations. Nitrogen levels increased herbage P concentrations most at Stephenville in yr 3. Fertilizer N also increased herbage P yield at both locations.
