The user community is provided with a simple interface for searching the publicly available holdings of the collection by strain name (genus, species and subspecific name), the NRRL accession number, the accession number in other major culture collections, and by a specific application or product produced by the strain desired. This forms-based user interface to the database is simple to use and is supported by the Internet browsers currently in use. The use of the World Wide Web is an extremely cost effective means of providing this information to the public and updates to the catalog can be made in a timely manner as new strains are made available. |
