Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Between October 2005 and October 2007, only 78 Agricultural Engineers took the professional engineering (PE) exam in the field of Agricultural Engineering, while the other 406 registered Agricultural Engineering Examinees took tests offer by other engineering disciplines. With the decline in participation of the agricultural engineers in the agricultural engineering exam, discontinuation of the exam is likely. The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) are working to attract agricultural engineers back to taking the exam from their discipline by redefining the test to make it more reflective of what practicing agricultural and biological engineers do in the world today. Additionally, ASABE is working to develop a good study guide and provides PE exam seminars at the annual ASABE meeting and provides on-line webinars. ASABE encourages agricultural and biological engineers to sign up for the exam today and to be recognized by their peers as a Professional Engineer.
