Register of new fruit and nut cultivars. List 44. HortScience. 43(5):1321-1343. Interpretive Summary: Information on origin and key characteristics of new fruit tree rootstocks for use with almond, peach, plum, and apricot varieties are provided. This information is useful to breeders, extension personnel, nurserymen and growers. Technical Abstract: New clonal Prunus hybrid rootstocks offer improved adaptation to site related problems including droughty or calcareous soils and root-knot nematodes. Additionally, they offer varying degrees of vigor control compared to standard seedling types which provide significant reductions in pruning and the use of ladders. |
