Technical Abstract: Scientists and engineers in areawide pest management programs have been developing, integrating, and evaluating multiple strategies and technologies into a systems approach for management of field crop insect pests. Remote sensing along with global positioning systems, geographic information systems, and variable rate technology are tools that can be implemented to help farmers maximize the economic and environmental benefits of areawide pest management through precision agriculture. This research applied a multi-spectral imaging system on an agricultural aircraft to develop an airborne multi-spectral remote sensing method with the fusion of information provided by ground truth data. In the study a MS4100 multi-spectral imaging system was operated on a single-engine agricultural aircraft, Cessna 206. The acquired images were processed, analyzed, and combined with ground truth data for generating prescription areawide pest management spray applications.
