Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Corn borer populations have fluctuated dramatically over the years, but in the past few years some scientists are reporting consistently low populations. Is this part of a natural cycle or has genetically-engineered corn, which in some areas is greater than half of the plantings, led to an area wide suppression of this corn pest? To informally address this question, several corn experts were interviewed, who have volunteered much anecdotal information and some empirical data. Also, multi-year trap data from two locations in Iowa is reported.
