Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: The Pyramid Servings Database for USDA Survey Food Codes Version 2.0 (PyrServDB_v2) provides food and intake data on the number of Pyramid servings for 30 food groups. The Pyramid food files contain the servings per 100 grams food for all the codes in the USDA Food and Nutrient Database for Dietary Surveys and other technical databases that were used to process national food consumption surveys since 1994. Thus, the Pyramid database can be used with any survey using USDA survey food codes and conducted between 1994 and 2002. The PyrServDB_V2 also contains individual food code Pyramid intakes and daily total Pyramid intakes per individual from the "What We Eat In America", National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2001- 2002; NHANES 1999-2000; and Continuing Survey of Food Intakes by Individuals (CSFII) 1994-96, 1998. Documentation, data file formats, food descriptions, and model programs to join the Pyramid servings food data to survey intakes and to summarize and compare Pyramid servings intakes to the 1992 Food Guide Pyramid recommendations are included with the Pyramid servings database.
