DOI: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.dib.2025.111630 Interpretive Summary: Molecular markers are used to find physical locations of plant genomes associated to important characteristics in plants. Here we have developed and tested 768 molecular markers and tested them on five cultivars of sweet potato, Since marker developing is an expensive and time consuming task, sharing this information will benefit the research community working on sweet potato to better know the genome of this plant and perform breeding for specific traits. Technical Abstract: A total of 768 markers were developed for Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam and tested on DNA of five cultivars of this species The 689 SSR and 79 SNP markers were distributed across the I. batatas genome with average of 51 markers per chromosome of I. batatas. Here we provide the primer sequences tested, their chromosome locations, the results of the analysis including amplicon sizes, and highlight 92 markers that showed polymorphism between Beauregard and Tanzania. The new markers could be used to elaborate a higher resolution linkage map for I. batatas. |
