Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: The goals of this project include development of an integrated physical and genetic map resource; derivation of efficient, high-resolution genetic mapping tools and materials; and enhancement of data curation, access, and representation. Plans for this 5-year project are as follows. 1) BAC library, 10X - prepare and fingerprint; prepare and distribute filter arrays. 2) Anchor BACs with 1000 RFLPs from the IF2 map; add 1000 RFLPs t the IBM population. 3) Develop 2000 SSR primer pairs; map on IBM; anchor to BACs. 4) Anchor BACs with 1000 sorghum-mapped RFLPs; compare to sorghum and rice physical maps. 5) Anchor 2000 ESTs to BAC filters. 6) Construct a panel of Radiation Hybrids and use for mapping. 7) Map 3400 mutants using SSRs. 8) Design conceptual framework for mutant and trait characterization and descriptors. 9) Curate and disseminate information. 10) Conduct data analysis and develop tools. 11) Design and develop data input and output; platform interoperability. 12) Program management and oversight.
