Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Channel catfish infected with Ichthyophthirous multifiliis were treated with waterborne copper sulfated to determine the effective dose and treatment time and to investigate the water quality parameters that affect the efficacy of the chemical. A five day daily dose of 0.4 mg copper sulfate/L was as effective as any higher dose. The efficacy of copper sulfate was unaffected by ph in the range of 6.5 to 8.5. Increasing concentrations of total suspended solids reduced the effectiveness of copper sulfate and it was completely uneffective at a concentration of 1.6 mg/L when total suspended solids were 23.5 mg/L.
