Technical Abstract: The Internet or World Wide Web is rapidly becoming the premier tool for disseminating genome information. The USDA National Agricultural Library hosts copies of all of the plant and animal genome databases currently available as well as ones for several fungi and reference databases for five agronomically important insects. This paper will first describe the genome databases that are accessible via the Internet (using SoyBase as an example of the kinds of data that are typically available) and then give some strategies for searching the Internet for other types of genome-related information.
