Our objective was to examine crop yield and nitrogen (N) removal data collected for 1992 through 1995 from fields with Typic Haplaquolls and Typic Hapludolls located in a central Iowa, USA watershed. Corn (Zea mays L.) and soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.) yield, relative yield, grain N concentrations, and annual N removal are evaluated according to soil map unit. Relationships with seasonal rainfall patterns, N fertilizer rates and selected biological, chemical and physical indicators of soil quality are discussed. |
