Transient expression assay indicates that MDV ICP27 possesses both intrinsic transactivation and transrepression activities. MDV ICP27 significantly transactivates MDV pp14 and pp38 bi-directional promoters, but strongly represses the MDV thymidine kinase (TK) early gene promoter. In addition, a heterologous RSV-LTR U3 promoter is also stimulated by MDV ICP27. In contrast to HSV-1 ICP27, MDV ICP27 shows now cooperative activity with MDV ICP4. |
