Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: This book chapter provides comprehensive descriptions of the 5 species assigned to the yeast genus Eremothecium. This is one of the few yeast genera whose members are plant pathogens. Affected crops include citrus, mustard, tomatoes, and hazel nuts. Species of Eremothecium are used industrially to produce the vitamin riboflavin (B2). In addition to the descriptions, this chapter describes laboratory methods for species identification.
