Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: A workshop, sponsored by Pioneer Hi-Bred International, and hosted by the USDA/ARS North Central Regional Plant Introduction Station and Iowa State University, was held 29-31 August 1994. It convened scientists from several disciplines and specialists in cultural heritage conservation and in germplasm management. Participants, from the U. S. and Mexico, were affiliated with academia, industry, government, Native American tribal offices, and non-profit organizations. They identified areas of mutual interest, established long-term objectives, explored approaches and technologies to address those objectives, and proposed a research program that involves a step-wise, multi-disciplinary approach to the study of maize and human cultures.
