Interpretive Summary: Mycoplasma gallinarum is low level pathogen of avian species that enhances the pathogenic potential of respiratory viruses. It has also been found to infect some mammals, such as sheep and pigs. Minimal research has been done with this organism. The genome of a representative M. gallinarum strain was sequenced to better understand its ability to infect disparate hosts and understand its effect on the host.

Technical Abstract: Mycoplasma gallinarum, an avian mycoplasma strain, has also been found in several mammalian species. Here we report the first complete genome sequence of a M. gallinarum strain.
