Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Greater awareness of the role of soil management in achieving global production goals has focused the spotlight on soil health assessment. The role of site-specific characteristics in soil health potential has long been recognized, and the Soil Health Assessment Protocol and Evaluation (SHAPE) tool was developed to provide regionally relevant scores and benchmarks to help producers optimize soil health on their farms and ranches. Ongoing work includes a nationwide effort to collect soil health and management data representing production systems across the U.S. This dataset will provide a more refined, robust, and regionally relevant SHAPE interpretation tool in support of national production goals.
