Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: As global agriculture faces mounting pressures from environmental challenges, food insecurity, and the urgent need to reduce waste, nanotechnology offers innovative solutions that are redefining the future of the industry. Topics of interest include nanofertilizers, nanopesticides, nanoenabled water management, nanotechnology applications in food processing, food packaging, functional food development, food safety, and the integration of nanotechnology with artificial intelligence to enable precision agriculture. By advancing this field, researchers can contribute to sustainable practices that address critical global issues such as climate change, hunger, and resource management. The editorial board of the ACS Food and Agriculture portfolio of journals aims to provide a welcoming platform for authors conducting research in nanotechnology applications in agriculture and food. Therefore, this team recently announced a joint Virtual Special Issue (VSI) dedicated to the transformative role of nanotechnology in agriculture and food. This editorial provides additional guidance to authors on the nanotechnology-related topics we are seeking along with expectations of technical details to include in the materials and methods section of submitted manuscripts.
