Interpretive Summary: Microbial inoculants are widely used in agriculture to manage pests and diseases, promote plant growth, and enhance nutrient availability. Among these, nitrogen-fixing symbiotic bacteria are commonly applied to reduce reliance on synthetic nitrogen fertilizers. These bacteria are typically introduced through seed inoculation or coating, ensuring the presence of compatible strains that can form root nodules and fix atmospheric nitrogen. The success of such inoculation depends on the strain's effectiveness, host specificity, and ability to compete with native soil microbes. To expand the range of available inoculant strains for Trifolium resupinatum (Persian clover), we isolated a nitrogen-fixing bacterium from Persian clover grown in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Here, we report the genome sequence of this isolate. While Rhizobium strains associated with Persian clover from Europe, Africa, and Asia have been previously sequenced, this study provides the first genomic data for an isolate from the Willamette Valley, Oregon.

Technical Abstract: The growth of Persian clover is enhanced by nodulation and nitrogen fixation mediated by Rhizobium leguminosarum bv. trifolii. While strains from Europe, Africa and Asia have been sequenced, this study presents the first genome sequence data of an isolate from the Willamette Valley, OR.
