Technical Abstract: The first annual Pecan Stakeholder Engagement Day was held at the Southeastern Fruit and Tree Nut Research Station in Byron, GA on May 1, 2025. The focus of the event was for growers and other stakeholders to participate in an open discussion about the research being done at the SE Fruit and Tree Nut Research Station, challenges facing the pecan industry, and feedback about the industry’s current and future research needs. Presentations were made and discussion ensued in entomology/pest management (Dr. Ted Cottrell and David Shapiro-Ilan), horticulture (Dr. Cristina Pisani), pecan genetics (Dr. Karl Fetter and Dr. Jordan Brungardt), and pecan processing (Dr. Cameron Bardsley on food safety, and Dr. XiuXiu Sun on pecan quality enhancement). This article provides a summary of the presentations made and research covered.
