Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Every 5 years, USDA and HHS collaborate on a new edition of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGA). Using ultra-processed foods and the dairy food group as case studies, this presentation will cover the process used to review the evidence base for these guidelines so they reflect the latest scientific information. Information covered in this talk will include scientific topics and questions proposed for inclusion in the DGA, identification of experts to serve on the Dietary Guidelines Scientific Advisory Committee, evidence review protocols and protocol development, and communication of summarized findings to healthcare practitioners and the research community.
