Interpretive Summary: Many parasitic diseases impair livestock health, and some of these also harm human health. An example is Toxoplasmosis, which USDA scientists studied during pivotal decades, leading to life-saving management successes. This invited review highlights 20 seminal discoveries published over a 5 decade that contributed to this progress. The paper will be of interest to pathologists, epidemiologists, veterinarians, and food safety professionals.

Technical Abstract: This paper highlights selected papers on Toxoplasma gondii published in Parasitology for the last 5 decades.
