Currently, many papers are published without sufficient information to repeat the experiment or fully understand the context of the results. We reviewed and quantified environmental reporting from over 230 recent research articles in the journal Plant Physiology and make recommendations for measuring and reporting environmental variables during experiments. These guidelines will improve the quality and repeatability of plant science experiments. Technical Abstract: There are large discrepancies in how plant scientists report the environmental conditions of experiments. Here, we present a review of environmental reporting in recent research publications in the journal Plant Physiology. plant science literature, discuss key parameters to report, and suggest best practices for plant scientists in measuring and reporting environmental conditions for their experiments. This will improve result interpretation and collaboration across plant science subdisciplines. |
