Technical Abstract: The National Clean Plant Network — Citrus (NCPNC) is a component of the National Clean Plant Network (NCPN), which also encompasses berries, fruit and nut trees, grapes, hops, roses, and sweet potatoes. The NCPN is a collaborative program between USDA Agencies APHIS, ARS, and NIFA. APHIS, through its PPA 7721 program, is the lead Agency and administers the NCPN. The NCPN is a network of “clean plant centers” and allied programs, mostly located at Universities but also including State and Federal Agencies. NCPN has the overall mission of supporting and promoting the use of “clean” propagative material the production of its associated crops. This article is aimed at growers and provides general information on the NCPN, with specific emphasis on citrus, which, as a subtropical crop, is one of the areas of interest for this extension newsletter.
