Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Plastics that typically contaminate cotton often escape conventional cotton gin extractors and cleaners and end up in the cotton bale. However, investigations have shown that these plastics have properties that differ from those of cotton that may be exploited to enable extraction or separation from the cotton at the gin. This presentation will summarize what is currently known about these properties and discuss current work to take advantage of them to develop devices to combat plastic contamination at the cotton gin.
