Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: In March 2023, USDA researchers convened a workshop to identify current research gaps on the topic of "ultra-processed" foods (UPFs) and human health. The results of this meeting, "A Research Roadmap about Ultra-Processed Foods and Human Health for the United States Food System," were published in fall 2023. The purpose of the NIH PRCC meeting is to provide an overview of the findings from the Research Roadmap workshop and share an update on USDA's upcoming research plans related to UPFs.
