American Chemical Society National Meeting, August 18-22, 2024, Denver, Colorado. Interpretive Summary: Technical Abstract: As we are in the Corn and Soybean Belt of the USA, our goal has always been to enhance the utilization of corn and soybeans. The presentation is on research dealing with expanded uses of the components of corn, such as starch, protein, fiber, and oil. Past and ongoing research work including chemical and enzymatic modifications of renewable resources to produce new biobased materials and value-added products will be discussed. A particular emphasis will be made on the development of new, green synthetic methods, such as microwave, ionic liquid, and solvent-free processes. |
