The cover is adorned with images of adult moths to show their incredible diversity and on the first page the authors clearly state why they have written this book ' “Here, we attempt to untarnish their reputation by putting moths, with their astonishing diversity, firmly back in the limelight.” Hurray! Their introduction “What is a moth?” compares a moth to a butterfly, but in doing so, the authors eloquently describe recent advances in the study of lepidopteran evolution to answer this question.
