Interpretive Summary: Chiggers have been considered important around the world for their role in disease transmission. Chiggers are associated with wild and domestic animals including humans. This paper redescribed one known species from the Americas and described a new species of chigger from Peru. This information is useful for people working with acari, domestic and wild animals, quarantine, agriculture and medical and veterinary fields.

Technical Abstract: The Neotropical genus Boshkerria Fauran, 1959 has two species, Boshkerria tuberculata (Fauran, 1959) and Boshkerria punctata (Boshell and Kerr, 1942) parasitizing mammals of the Central and South American continents. Here, we redescribe B. puncatata based on two syntypes and describe a new species, Boshkerria erwini n. sp. from a rodent in Peru. A key is provided for the three species in the genus.
