Interpretive Summary: Critical outreach in entomology is an important part of a researcher's responsibilities, including enhanced communication and collaboration among scientists and stakeholders. One important form of outreach is to inform policy makers of the research we do. However, that may seem like a daunting task for those of us who do not have much, or any, experience working in the policy world. This article details the process of reaching out to congresspeople and organizing a guided tour of an entomological research facility.
