It is written in lay language so non-scientist can understand it. Include three parts in an IS: 1) State the problem that the research addressed, 2) tell what was accomplished, not how it was accomplished), and 3) tell how the research contributes to solving the stated problem and who will benefit. Exhibit 3 of P&P 152.1 gives additional details, which authors can skip if they follow the simple guidelines above.
