Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Due to repeated questioning on consistency and quality of insect lures, we examined the pheromone loads within the lures from major lure suppliers for the 3 major moth pests in cranberry (cranberry fruitworm, sparganothis fruitworm and blackheaded fireworm). Lures of a given species from each of the suppliers were significantly different and this translated into differences in trap-catches for the sparganothis fruitworm and cranberry fruitworm. We will continue this work over the winter so that growers and consultants can make informed lure purchases for the 2019 field season.
