Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: We have made PHAs from various alkanoic acids using two strains of Pseudomonas putida, NRRL B-14875 and KT2440. We have examined their yield, monomer distribution and have started examining their physical properties. We have found that cell growth and dry weight are about the same for each alkanoic acid when the total carbon is the same. We have also found that monomer distribution in the PHA polymer is a function of the alkanoic acid supplied.
