Interpretive Summary: Whitefly-transmitted viruses including Cucurbit yellow stunting disorder virus (CYSDV) cause significant economic losses to cucurbit production in the southeastern U.S. In this report, we document CYSDV infection of cucumber, cantaloupe and squash in Georgia for the first time. This information is important for growers, Extension personnel, crop consultants, and regulatory and research scientists in Georgia and neighboring states in the southeastern U.S.

Technical Abstract: Cucurbit yellow stunting disorder virus (CYSDV) is transmitted by whiteflies and has recently become an economic limitation to cucurbit production in Florida. Observations of CYSDV-like symptoms on cucumber, cantaloupe and squash in 2016 in Georgia prompted testing for this virus. Symptomatic plants of all three plant species were found to be infected with CYSDV.
