Interpretive Summary: Leaf beetles are among the most important insects affecting U.S. Agriculture. Many are serious pests and feed on crops destroying valuable plants costing millions of dollars annually. Others are important biological control agents that can be used to destroy unwanted and invasive weeds. This work provides description and illustrations for a species group of flea beetles in China, containing five species, three of which are new to science, to allow for its identification and proper classification. This study will be useful to taxonomists, evolutionary biologists, and anyone interested in plant-feeding beetles.

Technical Abstract: Chaetocnema picipes species-group is revised in China. It contains 5 species including 3 new species: C. cheni n.sp., C. constricta n.sp. and C. kingpinensis n.sp.. The lectotype of C. fortecostata is designated. A key to all known species of this group from China and illustrations of habitus and genitalia are provided. A map of species distribution is given.
