Proceedings of the Entomological Society of Washington. 3790:185-193. Interpretive Summary: Invasive insect species cost billions of dollars annually in measures required for eradication or control. Parasitic wasps that parasitize gall-forming insects have been spread globally via commerce can aid in controlling gall-forming pests in agricultural and ornamental situations. I report on parasitic wasps known to attack gall-forming insects and stabilize the names used to refer to these wasps. This information will be useful to regulatory officials at ports, biocontrol workers, scientists, and pest managers combating agriculturally important gall-forming insects.
Technical Abstract: Nine species parasitic eurytomid wasps described by Jean Brèthes and deposited in the National Insect Collection of Argentina, Buenos Aires are treated and their nomenclature stabilized. The condition of the type material is described. Lectotypes are designated for Prodecatoma parodii, Eudecatoma opposita, Eurytoma caridei. One new generic synonymy and five new combinations are proposed: Xanthosomodes albiangulata Brèthes with Tetramesa, n. comb., n. syn.; Eurytoma caridei with Phylloxeroxenus, n. comb.; Eurytoma vulgata with Aximopsis, n. comb.; Prodecatoma parodii with Proseurytoma, n. comb.; and Sycophila opposita with Bruchophagus, n. comb. Sycophila paranensis is declared incertae sedis.
