Interpretive Summary: Parasitic wasps are important components in the biological control of agricultural crop pests worldwide and prevent millions of dollars in damage each year. Two new parasitic wasps are described, one of which parasitizes a plant-feeding katydid that is a pest of rice. Differential diagnostics are provided to separate the new species from described species. This information will aid biocontrol workers, scientists, and port inspectors working with katydids and their parasites.
Technical Abstract: Two new species of Isosomodes Ashmead are described and illustrated: I. monteria from Colombia and I. dorado from Venezuela. Key characters for separation from other species are provided. Rearing data for I. monteria indicate that it is a parasitoid of Conocephalus (Orthoptera: Tettigoniidae) eggs and its importance in biological control programs in rice are discussed.
