Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: The international research network COLOSS (Prevention of honey bee COlony LOSSes) was established to coordinate efforts towards improving the health of western honey bee at the global level. The COLOSS BEEBOOK contains a collection of chapters intended to standardized methodologies for monitoring and research on honey bee colony losses. This virus chapter combines the laboratory and field methods for honey bee virus propagation, purification, survey, detection, and bioassay. The chapter should be a valuable resource for students, scientists, apiary inspectors who work on honey bees.
