An application of METRIC to estimate evapotranspiration of red pepper under four different irrigation levels [abstract]. ASA-CSSA-SSSA Annual Meeting Abstracts. 2012 CDROM. Paper No. 209-12. Interpretive Summary: Technical Abstract: In this study, the METRIC model was used to estimate evapotranspiration (ET) of red pepper under fully irrigated and water stress conditions, in the semi-humid Bafra Plains located in northern Turkey. Field experiments were conducted under four different irrigation levels for red pepper from rainfed to full irrigation. Spectral reflectance, surface temperature, and net radiation measurements on each of the experimental plots, and a dry bare soil surface were made using hand-held devices. Soil moisture was monitored with a field-calibrated neutron probe. ET with each irrigation treatment was calculated based on both soil-water budget and energy balance (with METRIC) methods. Statistical comparisons between measured and estimated ET with METRIC and soil-water budget based methods showed excellent agreement. However, ET values of water stressed conditions estimated through METRIC were relatively higher than that derived from the soil-water budget method. |
