Citation: Rosentrater, K.A. 2010. Use of DDGS as a protein for aquaculture feeds. US Grains Council, Japan DDGS Workshop, Tokyo Japan, September 8, 2010.

Interpretive Summary: As the ethanol industry continues to expand, more coproduct materials, especially distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) will become available. DDGS may be a potentially viable alternative protein for aquafeeds. For this purpose, however, it must be used as one component of a balanced feed, not as an entire feed by itself. Therefore, this presentation will discuss investigations into extrusion of aquaculture feeds using DDGS as a protein source. Processing of DDGS with other feed ingredients can add value and improve the utilization of this ethanol manufacturing coproduct.
