Interpretive Summary: The purpose of this symposium is to provide members and guests of the Poultry Science Association (PSA) with an opportunity to interact with industry and research leaders who are pursuing the use of functional genomic tools, basic physiology of the stress response, and traditional behavioral methodology to improve the well-being of poultry. The major goal is to formulate plans for the future of the poultry industry; a future in which it is clear that animal well-being will become an increasingly important element.

Technical Abstract: The purpose of this symposium is to provide members and guests of the Poultry Science Association (PSA) with an opportunity to interact with industry and research leaders who are pursuing the use of functional genomic tools, basic physiology of the stress response, and traditional behavioral methodology to improve the well-being of poultry.
