Interpretive Summary: Accurate scientific names are essential for communication about organisms including fungi. These names must be established in accordance with some basic rules. One of these requires that the same name cannot be used more than once. This research replaces three scientific names that were the same as names published previously for fungi that are used to control disease-causing organisms. Mycologists and plant pathologists will use the results of this research to communicate about biological control agents.

Technical Abstract: Three hypocreoid taxa were found to be illegitimate later homonyms of previously described species. Hence, the replacement names are provided: Hypocrea neostraminea (= Hypocrea straminea P. Chaverri & Samuels), Trichoderma neocandidum (= Trichoderma candidum P. Chaverri & Samuels), and Trichoderma neonigrovirens (= Trichoderma nigrovirens P. Chaverri & Samuels.
