Genomics of Disease, 24th Stadler Genetics Symposium. New York:Springer Science + Business Media, LLC. 221 p. Interpretive Summary: Technical Abstract: This edited book represents the 23rd symposium in the Stadler Genetics Symposia series, and the general theme of this conference was "The Genomics of Disease." The 24 national and international speakers were invited to discuss their world-class research into the advances that genomics has made on characterizing genes controlling disease in plants and animals, including humans. The Symposium presented a state-of-the-art picture on the current status of genomics of disease in both plants and animals. It was one of the few times that researchers in both plants and animals had the opportunity to speak and discuss their results in the same room. It was surprising that there were many similarities in the research on plant and animal disease genomics. It was a most interesting symposium that supplied much needed information to advance our understanding the complexities of the genomic problems, both differences and similarities, associated with the genomics of plant and animal diseases. |
