Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: This editorial recognized the very low predictiveness of measures of psychosocial variables predicting dietary intake among adolescents, despite using previously validated scales. The editorial advocated the increased focus on developing innovative models and measures of psychosocial and environmental variables to enhance predictiveness. Within the structure of the mediating variable model, intervention will only result in significant dietary change when we know what the major predictors are, and we know how to change those predictors (mediating variables).
