Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Two different solid-state sensor packages were evaluated for use on small wind turbines (<200 kW) for control and data acquisition. The two solid-state sensor packages were compared to three mechanical sensor packages that have been used to measure small turbine performance parameters. The solid-state sensor packages were found to be acceptable replacements for two of the three mechanical sensor packages that were compared. The use of solid-state sensors would result in a more portable and lower cost data acquisition system.
